I am based at Manchester Metropolitan University, in the Manchester Fashion Institute.
My research focuses on mitigating environmental impacts in textile production processes and product life cycles. To support my investigations, I am fortunate to collaborate with experts in fashion, material science, business, biosciences and physics.
By observing structural colour in nature, my PhD research produced structural colour in textiles, reducing the use of traditional dyes and pigments.
My teaching has been across undergraduate and postgraduate fashion and textile courses, teaching a broad range of subjects across fashion, textile and garment technology. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am a Fellow of The Society of Dyers and Colourists and a Chartered Fellow of The Textile Institute. I am a Member of The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
